The Research and Publishing Department

The Research and Publishing Department combines publishing, research and educational activities, while also housing the Cinematheque library.

With the founding of the Cinematheque, the department took over the work of publishing film literature that was set out by the Slovenian Theatre and Film Museum and the earlier Ljubljana Cinematheque.

The scope of our publications ranges from monographs on Slovenian film, works on film theory and history, original research findings, to film retrospective catalogues and educational materials.

Education programmes for both young and adult audiences represent an important part of our activity. These include free annual lecture cycles, workshops and panels, as well as the traditional Autumn Film School Symposium, which aim to establish a framework of continuity and quality.

Furthermore, the Cinematheque library has in its care more than 13.000 books on film and periodicals, while the mediatheque offers access to a wide selection of film classics and rare titles on digital formats.

Both the library and the mediatheque are open to public and free of charge.
